an intersectional event that celebrates the values of the area.

nest 62

ELISAVA and Paral·lel 62 joined forces to create Nest·62, a once-in-a-lifetime event; a curated interactive, sensorial experience that embraced the values of the multicultural communities as well as the areas surrounding the venue.

During this event, I was one of 3 event producers in charge of making the planned event a reality. With a 1,200€ budget, we were able transform a two story venue and secured seven artists, promoted the event, and decorated the space. As a part of the production team, I was tasked with managing the budget, acquiring all props and items asked for, finding solutions for ideas that were outside of our scope, setting up and dismantling the event, securing transportation and storage, as well as handling artist riders and needs. It was my job to manage expectations as well as execute a high quality event.

Assignment
As a class of 18, work together in subgroups to create an event from scratch. The event must take place in Paral·lel 62, a venue located between the El Raval and Poblesec neighborhoods of Barcelona. Take inspiration from the venue and the neighborhoods’ histories to create a concept and execute it within a 3 hour event.

The event was an immersive experience starting on the first floor where guests walked through an art installation, were able to see videos of the making of the installation, and were able to sit inside a tent with graffiti-sprayed furniture. From there, they went up the stairs where there were more experimental videos. As part of the production team, I helped map out the installation pieces on a floor plan and find all the pieces to bring these ideas to life.
